The Kerala Samajam of Greater New York (Samajam) was formed as
a non-profit, non-political organization
to assist the Indian community in their
cultural, social, and educational development.
Since the inception of the organization,
it has been conducting various community
activities involving public awareness
and cultural development that are added
advantages to especially new immigrants.
Community meetings and seminars on various
subjects of relevance were conducted to
share information to the new immigrants
that would help them to understand the
power of diversity and get blended into
the community easily and be a viable member
of the community.
The Samajam is devoted to
promoting a spirit of brotherly hood and
friendship among all people, but particularly
among those people and their descendants
from the Indian Federal State known as
Kerala, formerly known as Travancore,
Cochin and Malabar. The people from this
area are commonly called the Malayalam
People and their culture is termed Malayalam.
A specific but not exclusive purpose
shall be to inculcate in its membership,
particularly those members born in the
United States an aware of their Malayalam
identity, its heritage and language; to
stimulate their intellectual interest
in the literature and culture of the Malayalam
people.
The Samajam assists in charitable and
educational work of any nature deemed
beneficial and within the best interest
of the organization and to society as
a whole. The Samajam committed to hold
membership meeting and drives have social
gathering,s give dinner, cultural shows,
conduct classes and lectures an to do
all things necessary and incidental for
the realization of the aim.
